Xuantian Group will build the largest green steel base in Vietnam
On June 23rd, Vietnam's Xuan Tian Group announced that it will start construction of Vietnam's largest and most advanced green steel base in Nam Dinh Province in northern Vietnam. The total investment of the project amounts to 98 trillion Vietnamese dong (approximately 3.74 billion US dollars).
This project mainly includes three construction contents. The first one is the large factory No. 1, covering an area of 284.97 hectares, with a designed annual production capacity of 7.5 million tons. The main products of this large factory include high-quality hot-rolled steel strips that cannot be produced domestically in Vietnam at present, such as weathering steel used in ships, automobiles, wind power, machinery, defense and containers. The second is the No. 2 factory, which covers an area of 83.93 hectares and has an investment of approximately 10 trillion Vietnamese dong (about 392 million US dollars). The No. 2 factory will adopt electric arc furnace (EAF) technology and continuous casting and continuous rolling processes, with a designed annual production capacity of 2 million tons of low-carbon emission steel. The third is a precast concrete plant covering an area of 58 hectares with a designed annual production capacity of 350,000 tons.
It is reported that the green steel base will also build direct iron reduction equipment. Initially, it will use liquefied natural gas (LNG) for reduction and plans to switch to hydrogen reduction in the future. The base plans to adopt green production processes, reducing carbon emissions by 86% compared to traditional steelmaking processes.
